Default What is bandwidth?

Hello Friends

Bandwidth is amount of data transferred to and from a webhosting account. The most common examples of data transfer are:
- Files and images being requested by your visitor's web browsers.
- Files transferred to and from your domain using an FTP program.
- Email messages received and sent from your domain.
Bandwidth is renewed monthly and monitored every 24 hours. Our hosting accounts provide a very generous amount of bandwidth for your domains... more than most web hosts provide for the same size accounts!

Thanks for reading
Have a nice day

Bandwidth is a term used to describe how much information can be transmitted over a connection. Bandwidth is usually given as bits per second, or as some larger denomination of bits, such as Megabits per second, expressed as kbit/s or Mbit/s. Bandwidth is a gross measurement, taking the total amount of data transferred in a given period of time as a rate, without taking into consideration the quality of the signal itself.

Thanks

Bandwidth in case of computing is a rate of data transfer, throughput or bit rate
measured in bits per second (bps)

Bandwidth in case of signal processing is a frequency bandwidth or radio bandwidth
a measure of the width of a range of frequencies, measured in hertz

Bandwidth is easy to understand if we use an analogy from everyday life. Imagine that instead of trying to get a Web page or file from your ISP through wires, you're trying to drain a swimming pool. The water in the pool is the Web page or file. If you stick a skinny hose to drain the water from the pool, as in Figure 2, it will take quite a while to drain all the water.

Post Simplifying data transfer and bandwidth

There is a very subtle difference in the terms bandwidth and data transfer.

Data Transfer means the actual number of files uploaded / downloaded through the hosting account; whereas bandwidth is the figure which denotes the speed at which this data transfer would be carried out.

To give an example, when one says 'you get 10gb space and 50 gb bandwidth per month', it means the user will get a quota of 50GB worth data transfer. Bandwidth would be the speed at which this 50Gb of data would be transferred
